THE LONG TAIL AND OTHER WAGS

The Long Tail has hit The Tipping Point. You have all probably been exposed to Chris Anderson's work, which has recently hit #1 on Amazon. John Hagel has an excellent post on his blog about Chris' work, which is certainly worth perusing.

In other news, Promo reports that US Airways will be putting advertising on air sickness bags. Oh joy. What a brilliant idea. Of course, the magazine takes a positive spin on the whole thing, saying that "the handy little bags get used for plenty of things other than their true purpose: crayons, Legos and other kids toys; carrying home a little goodie bag of extras from the snack service; wet washcloths from cleaning dirty hands. So, they do get eyeballs beyond those passengers nauseous enough to grab for the bag." No, they won't. Your brand will be supporting someone's barf. What's worse: this or urinal advertising? Piss or vomit? You decide.

Finally, here's a great article from Business Week about viral ads. Thanks to Coolzor for pointing it out.
